JESSE NISHIHATA

JESSE HIDEO NISHIHATA was a pioneer Japanese Canadian filmmaker. He worked on documentaries for the CBC, the NFB, and taught film and media studies at Ryerson University's Image Arts Department, during which period he established himself as an independent producer and director.

This online film exhibition highlights Jesse Nishihata's work as an independent documentary filmmaker.

Program Guide

This exhibition is curated by Yixun Zhang, as a part of their thesis project for the MA program Film + Photography Preservation and Collections Management. The film program is presented by the School of Image Arts, and the Faculty of Communication & Design, Ryerson University. Films are provided by the Canadian Filmmakers Distribution Centre and the Jesse Nishihata estate.
